MINUTES OF THE MEETING HELD ON 06.11.2007

The meeting of the members of Belgaum Hqrs. and Division was held on the 6th November, 2007 at the Seminar Hall, Belgaum. The members in full strength attended the meeting. The meeting was presided over by Com. Gireesh B.Desai, Joint Secretary. At the outset, Com. R.A.Inamdar, Vice President, Mysore Zone, welcomed all the members and also congratulated all the newly promoted Superintendents. Com Gireesh B.Desai thanked the members for having whole-heartedly participated in the strike and for having made it a success. He requested Com. Sanjai K.V. Joint Secretary (South Zone), to brief the house about the participation of our Comrades elsewhere in the country in the strike. The Joint Secretary (South) briefed the members about the same. Com. Gireesh B.Desai, further initiated the proceedings of the meeting by asking the members to put forth the problems faced by them.

The issue of one time contribution by the members, towards the family of deceased member was raised. The Joint Secretary stated that, in the Executive Committee Meeting of Karnataka Circle held on 29.09.2007, a decision has already been taken to the effect that each member shall contribute Rs. 50/- in case of eventuality. The same will be collected immediately or in the following month. The members however felt that an amount of Rs. 50/- is too meager and the same should be increased to Rs. 100/-. The house requested the Vice-President, Mysore Zone and the Joint Secretary to take up the issue with the President/General Secretary/Executive Committee of Karnataka Circle.

One of the members raised the issue of selective nomination of the members for the Election duties. It was agreed by all the members present that the nominations for Election duties should be done regardless of the cadre as well as in a uniform way. It was also agreed that a record of the officers who have attended the Election duties previously, needs to be maintained.

The issue of postings of the newly promoted/directly recruited officers was discussed and it was unanimously decided that their postings should be preferably to Ranges or non-sensitive formations. The same was based on the analogy that the other sensitive formations such as Preventive, Audit etc., need experience.

The issue of publishing of Association Diary 2008 was raised. All the members expressed that the same needs to be published with as much as data as possible with regard to the official as well as personal details of the members. It was also stressed that the said Diary should and must contain the details such as date of birth, place of posting, mobile number, e-mail address, blood group etc. It was impressed that the Diary should be distributed to all the members in Karnataka, latest by the 1st week of January 2008. The Vice-President (Mysore Zone) and the Joint Secretary were requested to take up the issue with the President/General Secretary/Executive Committee of Karnataka Circle.

The members also expressed that, in view of all the formations having the facility of internet connection, the information to be passed on/conveyed by the Joint Secretary could be done in a speedy manner if a blog is created with regard to Belgaum Commissionerate. It was decided that the same shall be done at the earliest.

In view of the transfer of Com. Rajeev C. Hegde and Com. S.B.Jadagi, the previous Unit Secretary Hqrs. and Unit Secretary Belgaum Division, respectively, the said posts fell vacant. Com. Kiran K.Singari, Legal Section, Hqrs., Office, Belgaum and Com. Girish Kumar , Range ‘C’ Belgaum Division, were elected as Unit Secretary Hqrs. and Unit Secretary Belgaum Division, respectively.

Finally, the meeting ended with the vote of thanks of Com. R.A.Inamdar, Vice-President (Mysore Zone).

(GIREESH B.DESAI)

Congratulations, keep up the good work. Instead of having seperate blogs for each Commissionerate in Karnataka we can think of having a common blog for 'Karnataka Circle'. Regarding the issue of posting of recently promoted/recruited insptrs, it should be discussed thoroughly by all members before any proposal is made to the administration as it could cause unnecessary divisions within the insptr community. Personally, I feel the association must desist from suggesting such things.

Anyway, congratulations once again for actively taking up the issuing concerning the members and for intiating the web-site.
